Climate Change: School Improvements

LDCSB LED Lighting Installation and Other Measures Progress Report

We're dedicated to saving energy and fighting climate change, and want to keep you informed about the great progress we're making at our schools. Several of our schools have already received much-needed upgrades designed to improve the quality of the learning and teaching environment, trim harmful CO2 emissions, and provide substantial utility-cost savings:

Schools with Completed Measures:

John Paul II Secondary School cuts carbon by 7.5% or 32.8 tonnes of greenhouse gases, the equivalent of planting 1,505 trees. The anticipated energy savings of this project are $45,880 annually. These savings are in our Climate Change Action Plan.

St. Marguerite d'Youville Elementary School cuts carbon by 5.2% or 4.8 tonnes of greenhouse gases, the equivalent of planting 220 trees. The anticipated energy savings of this project are $5,740 annually. These savings are a part of our Climate Change Action Plan.

Many of our other schools have planned upgrades which are currently underway. We will continue to provide you with updates as the measures are completed.
