The London District Catholic School Board (LDCSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ana Paula Fernandes as a new Superintendent of Education, effective January 1 and pending approval by the Ministry of Education. Ana Paula replaces Ed De Decker, who is retiring after 33 years in education with the LDCSB and its predecessor board.
Ana Paula received her Ontario teaching certificate in 1992, following the completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1988 and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Toronto in 1992. She also received a Master of Education degree from UWO in 2002.
Ana Paula started teaching with the LDCSB in 1992. After teaching at the Centre for Lifelong Learning and at Catholic Central and John Paul II Catholic Secondary Schools, in 2003 she was appointed as a Vice-Principal at John Paul II Catholic Secondary School. In 2008 she was appointed as the Principal at St. Mary's Catholic Secondary School and, since 2012, she has served as the Principal at Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School.
Some of the initiatives and projects Ana Paula has been involved with are leading Student Achievement and Faith Leadership opportunities for students, International Student recruitment, and Called to Lead - a program that coordinates the development of a two-year program for aspiring leaders.
