The Smoke Free Ontario Actregulates the sale, supply, use, display, and promotion of tobacco and vapour products (e.g., vapes, e-cigarettes, and e-substances), as well as the smoking and vaping of cannabis.
Smoking and vaping of any substance, including medicinal cannabis, is not allowed anywhere on school property and within 20 meters of the perimeter of school grounds. School property includes parking lots, sports fields, and land that is rented or leased for school use.
Fines for smoking and for vaping start at $305.
It is also illegal to sell tobacco and vapour products in schools. Any individual convicted of selling tobacco or vapour products on school grounds could face a fine ranging from $2,000 to $50,000.
