Course Request Changes

Students selected their courses in February and thus they have had plenty of time to request course changes. However, some students  have valid reasons to adjust their timetable.

Therefore, guidance appointments will be available the first week of September for only the reasons listed below.

  1. students who are in Grades 9, 10 or 11 who have less than 8 courses.**

  1. students in Grades 12/12+ who do not have enough courses to graduate (30 credits needed to graduate).

  1. students who need a compulsory course to meet a graduation requirement.

  1. students who failed courses and need to repeat them.

  1. students who passed a summer school course, which is still on their timetable.

  1. students who need a prerequisite for an apprenticeship, college or university program.

***REQUESTS TO CHANGE LUNCH PERIODS OR TO CHANGE TEACHERS WILL NOT BE ACCOMMODATED.

A limited number of guidance appointments will be available on Thursday August 29th  and Friday August 30th 2019 for only those reasons noted above. The appointments will be scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note that students will be required to complete an appointment request form which clearly indicates which of the reasons noted above necessitates an appointment before meeting with a counsellor. Appointments will continue the week of September 3rd.

The last day to change courses for the first semester is Monday, September 9th, 2019.  Course-change requests after September 9th  will be considered in exceptional circumstances.

Please note that all student timetables have been reviewed with an effort to balance required and optional courses between semesters where possible. This is not always possible based on the student(s) course selections, the number of sections available and the placement of the courses in the timetable.

**Students need to have earned 24 credits before they can request a study period. Consequently, students in Grades 9, 10 and 11 will take eight courses. Grade 12 students may have a study period, although a study period is only recommended for students who need to and will use the daily 75 minutes to work on their courses. As well, study periods are not recommended unless a student is on track for a minimum of 31 credits.
