On occasion, families take their children out of school for extended absences such as a trip. When this occurs, parents need to notify the principal in writing and the school will provide work for the student to complete while they are away.
The parent or guardian of the pupil (or pupil if the pupil is an adult) must submit a letter to the principal, requesting that the pupil be excused for a specified period of time (e.g. a vacation or family obligation). The reason for the absence as well as the time frame must be explicitly stated in the letter. The time frame cannot be indefinite or until further notice. The letter requesting that the pupil be excused must be provided to the school at least 5 school days in advance of the absence. When the school is notified at least 5 days in advance, the school will provide work for the student to complete while they are away/
