About Our School
The school opened in 1989 and it was the first new school built in the London District Catholic School Board in 10 years at the time. St. Theresa was the first school in the system to have a daycare run by the YMCA attached. A 5-room addition was completed in September 2008, under a Primary Class Size Grant from the Province of Ontario.
Our school has 14 classrooms, 11 of which are currently being used. Each class has a data projector or SMART Board. We also have a complete up-to-date library, a computer lab with 26 computers, a "portable lab" with 45 tablets and 9 iPads, a data projector, and a gymnasium. Attached to our school is the YMCA Childcare.
Living Our Faith
The St. George Parish team makes visits to our school providing support and instruction as we work together to foster students’ faith development and a connection to the Parish. In addition, our school community celebrates mass at St. George Parish 4 times throughout the school year. Thanks to the generosity of the London District Catholic School Board, our Catholic School Council, and St. George Parish, bussing costs for the students are covered.
One of our goals is to bring our "faith to life" and we do this by our participating in charitable events. These include: participation in the Terry Fox Run. Over the years, our school has donated thousands of dollars for the Terry Fox Foundation for the battle against cancer. Teaming up with St. George Parish to collect toys and food for our Christmas toy and our Helping Hands Food Drive. Food drives where donations are given to area shelters, community agencies and St. George Parish.
Experiences and Opportunities
At St. Theresa Catholic School, we offer a variety of educational, spiritual, athletic and artistic experiences to enhance students abilities and support the classroom programs. These activities include: school teams (basketball, volleyball, hockey, soccer, etc.), intramural activities, choir, band (intermediate students), school productions (Christmas concert, choir performances, etc.), Student Parliament, Mathletics, etc.
We have 3 buses that serve about 141 students or approximately 55% of our students.
Our Safe Arrival program ensures that students are accounted for each morning and after lunch. The Safe and Healthy School Committee works to promote a safe, healthy, positive environment and is comprised of parents, staff and students. Visitors to our school must sign in at the office. We provide a number of clubs for student involvement and we are GOLD award winners for our work in promoting healthy living, including healthy eating and exercise. Our School Code of Conduct requires safe play on the yard while respecting our neighbour’s properties.
