Ray John Wins Peace Award!

On Tuesday, September 11, Ray John Jr, Indigenous cultural teacher for the LDCSB, was awarded the "Truth" Atlohsa Peace Award for working "tirelessly in the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation" and embodying "the Seven Sacred Teachings."

Ray was one of seven honourees chosen from among 24 nominees.  He will be honoured at the Atlohsa Peace Awards ceremony at the London Convention Center on Thursday, October 11.

Ray's role in the LDCSB has grown over his 4 years with the Board. He has become an essential part of the lives of Indigenous and non-Indigenous students in our system. We are very proud of this great honour he has received while doing Truth and Reconciliation work with the teachers and students of the LDCSB.

School Board in Growth Mode, Approves $262 Million Budget

On Monday, June 4, the Board of Trustees for the London District Catholic School Board approved a preliminary 2018-19 operating budget with expenditures of slightly more than $262 million.

The 2018-19 budget represents the beginning of a new reality for the London District Catholic School Board.

Enrollment stands at more than 20,000 students, having risen significantly in the past year and a sharp reversal after several years of declining enrollment. The increased enrolment means the Board will be investing in staff and classrooms.

“Here we grow!” said Linda Staudt, Director of Education. “Having more students means we need more teachers and other staff, so we will in hiring mode for the next several years. This is good news for everyone and particularly good news for anyone who is considering a teaching career with the London District Catholic School Board.”

Growth is a welcomed change, and after additional investments in staffing and learning environments, the board anticipates a modest surplus of $485,000.

The full preliminary operating budget is available here
