LDCSB Named One of Canada's Best Employers!

The London District School Catholic Board (LDCSB) is among the top 100 employers in Canada, according to an annual ranking of Canada's Best Employers.

The LDCSB is ranked at 85 on the list and is one of only five school boards listed in the top 300 Canadian employers, behind the Ottawa-Carleton and Halton District School Boards and ahead of the York Region and Durham District School Boards. The LDCSB is the only Catholic school board on the list.

"I believe one of the biggest factors in making the list is our positive approach to our employees and union groups," said Jim Vair, Superintendent of Human Resources. "In addition, to a fair compensation policy, we also try to look at the non-tangible benefits that demonstrate that we are looking out for our employees' best interests."

The LDCSB is about to embark on a hiring campaign, seeking to fill more than 300 positions over the next few months, including:

  • Occasional Teachers
  • French Teachers
  • Music Teachers
  • Specialty Teachers for Secondary School Subject Areas, including Math, Science and Technology
  • Early Childhood Educators
  • Educational Assistants

"We strive to build a culture of community within our board and within our schools, where together we patiently accompany one another," said Linda Staudt, Director of Education. "We further strive to ensure our employees are equipped with the skills and resources needed to succeed in supporting our students."

"It is an honour to be listed as one of Canada's top employers," said John Jevnikar, chair of the Board of Trustees. "I know that our senior administration, principals and staff have strived to create a sense of belonging among all our employees, and the results are apparent with this ranking."

Other London region companies listed the top 100 include the City of London (36) and 3M (79).

The London District Catholic School Board has approximately 3,000 employees who together work to educate and support approximately 19,000 students at 45 elementary schools, 9 secondary schools and the Centre for Lifelong Learning within Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin counties, including the cities of London, St. Thomas, Strathroy and Woodstock.

The ranking, which was compiled in collaboration with online research firm Statista, highlights 300 companies operating in Canada that have won the endorsement of their workers. Statista surveyed 8,000 Canadians working for large firms and institutions—those with 500 or more employees—in 25 industry sectors, asking them whether they would recommend their employers on a scale of 0 through 10, with 10 being the most positive. Respondents were surveyed through online access panels—not through their employers—and their gender, age, region, education level and ethnicity was representative of Canadian employees in general.
