Belonging School Climate Surveys
As part of our Board’s BELONGING initiatives, all elementary (Grades 4 – 8) and secondary (Grades 9 – 12) schools including our virtual schools (i.e., St Angela Merici and St Josephine Bakhita) within the London District Catholic School Board, along with parents and school staff, are being asked to complete a Belonging School Climate survey (2020-21). The student versions of the school climate surveys were reviewed by representative school principals and vetted with the Board’s Belonging Committee.
The purpose of the Belonging School Climate survey is to find out how students, parents and school staff feel about their school with respect to school safety, equity, inclusive education, mental health and well-being, along with what will help make our schools a safe, respectful, welcoming, and caring place to learn.
School boards are mandated by the Province to conduct a school climate survey once every two years. The survey should take you about 15 – 20 minutes to complete, but take as long as you need to complete the survey. The surveys are anonymous and voluntary. The Belonging School Climate surveys will be open from June 7 to June 21, 2021.
All together there are twelve (12) versions of the Belonging School Climate survey depending upon whether you are a student, parent, or staff and whether you are affiliated with an in-person/remote learning school or an elementary or secondary virtual school.
Each school will receive a summary report of their Belonging School Climate survey results in early Fall 2021. Survey results will also be shared through information meetings by the School Council, as well as in the school newsletter, and each school will develop a School Belonging Plan based in part on the survey findings.
Should you have any questions or concerns about the Belonging School Climate survey, please contact the school principal or you can also contact Terry Spencer, Research and Evaluation Officer at 519-663-2088 x42114 or email@example.com.
