ABOUT THE LEAP PROGRAM
The Leaders in Exercise and Athletics Program allows senior students (upon acceptance) at Catholic Central High School in London, Ontario, to gain industry certifications and insight into athletics and exercise. The students are certified in: National Coaching Certification Program, First Aid and CPR, at no cost to them. The students enrol in a co-op, gain volunteer hours and job shadow in many areas related to athletics and exercise. How do the students gain all courses needed for graduation? During regular uninterrupted core subjects! Opportunities to go in the community are met through a co-op course as well as through field trips and job shadowing.

The elementary schools in the London District Catholic School Board are a crucial partner to the program as the students practice leading others in various sports, fitness circuits, and games in the elementary school environment. Under the guidance of thoughtful and patient teachers the students are able to gain confidence leading others in a safe environment. The LEAP program sincerely thanks the following LDCSB communities for fostering this great partnership. St. Mary's, St. Michael, St. Martin, Jean Vanier, St Joseph's F.I., St. Sebastian, St. Jude and Blessed Sacrament your support is much appreciated!
The ideal "value" to gain from graduating from this program is how to be an effective leader and communicator. Students are encouraged to pursue any post-secondary pathway of their choice upon graduation. LEAP is simply a fantastic way to finish off the last two years of high school if you are an athleader that wants to learn more about training, leading effectively, teamwork, communication, and the specific attributes needed to play your sport at the next level or coach.

The application process for LEAP has two stages:
All students applying to the LEAP are requested to complete the following applications.
Specialist High Skills Major Application CEC all schools
For current CCH students these applications must be submitted to the guidance office the last Thursday before Christmas Break.
For students who do NOT currently attend CCH, these applications can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or you can drop them at the main office, Attention: Wendy Glover. Spots for students who do not attend CCH are awarded continuously until the program is full. These spots do fill up and are awarded on a first come first serve basis upon a successful application and interview. Please note that course selections for the following year at Catholic Central are due by the end of February. It would be very prudent to ensure your application is submitted at the begining of February in order to ensure all course requests are met.
After each application is read the selection committee will conduct interviews with each applicant. It is advised that before your interview you are aware of the various LEAP activities and committments that are expected of LEAP students.
For current CCH students interviews will be scheduled the second and third week of January during first lunch.
For students who do NOT attend CCH currently an interview will be setup within 3-4 days of receiving an application.
On WEDNESDAY JANUARY 30, all applicants may pick up their feedback envelope in the Main Office after 10:00 a.m.
*Please be mindful of the students that may not have gained entry and be discreet and respectful of the process.
