Course Planner / Education Plan

The Course Planner allows you to create and store your high school education plan by recording the courses you have taken, are taking, and plan to take in the future. It brings together your credit history, course descriptions, diploma tracking, pre-requisite requirements and suggested courses. With help from your Guidance Department this education plan will help you organize your courses to meet your career goals.

Part 1: Accessing the Course Planner

Step 1. Go to the London District Catholic School Board's home page: www.ldcsb.ca

Click on Student - select Secondary School Course Calendars - select Career Cruising / Course Planner Login. Follow the log in directions outlined in the yellow box on this page.

You will be asked to change your password and to confirm your London District Catholic School Board email address so that you can retrieve your password should you forget it in the future. Please do not change this email address.

To retrieve a lost password, click on the words "Forgot my username and/or password" found under the login box. Your password will be emailed to the LDCSB email address you confirmed when you first logged in to Course Planner.

Step 2. Click on the blue COURSE PLANNER button on the left menu bar.

You will now see your personalized Course Planner. This represents a chart of all available years at your school. Past courses and marks will be seen under the years you have already completed. Use your mouse to hover or click on a course code to see the full course descriptions.

The years with empty slots are areas that you can add courses to your planner. You can add a course by clicking on the plus (+) icon in an empty slot. See Part 2 for more on adding courses.

The yellow slots represent a collection of required courses that you must choose from. This is set up by your guidance department to ensure that you are meeting graduation requirements.

The year that has a dashed box around it represents next year's courses. You will be required to submit these course selections in February. When you submit your courses, your selections get locked and your parent or guardian will sign the printed authorization sheet. You can view your authorization sheet at any time by clicking on the printer icon at the top right of your Planner.

Part 2: Adding a Course

Required Courses (yellow slots)

Step 1. Click on the plus (+) icon of an empty yellow slot.

Step 2. You will see all the related courses that are offered under that discipline. You can hover or click on the course codes for more information on other courses. You will only be able to select from the courses that are required.

Step 3. When you hover or click on a course code you will also see the pre-requisite requirements for the course.

Step 4. To add a course to your selections, click on the "+". You will return to your planner and the course you have chosen will appear.

Elective Courses (white slots)

Step 1. Click on the plus (+) icon of an empty white slot.

Step 2. A drop down menu will appear with all subjects that are available in your school. By choosing one subject area, all the available courses will appear in that area. Select an option from the drop menu to continue. Courses that you have already achieved are greenish yellow. Available courses are white. If you hover your mouse over the course code, the description and prerequisites for the course will appear.

Step 3. You will see all the related courses that are offered under that discipline. You can hover or click on the course codes for more information on other courses.

Step 4. To add a course to your selections, click on the "+". You will return to your planner and the course you have chosen will appear.

Click on the blue book Icon at the top right of your planner to see a full course directory for your school.

A blue circle/dot beside the course means there is a "Warning Note" that you must read. Hover your mouse over the blue symbol and a note will appear. Examples of Warning Notes include: "You have selected a course that you have previously completed. This course will not count as an additional credit." or "It is recommended that a student has at least a 75% in a senior-level course in the subject area in which the student wishes to tutor."

A red circle/dot beside the course means there is an "Issue Note" that you must read. Hover your mouse over the red symbol and a note will appear. Example of Issue Notes include: "You do not have the proper pre-requisite, please select the proper pre-requisite, or speak to guidance."

Part 3: Diplomas and Certifications

Click on the Diploma and Certification tab in the Course Planner. Here you will see the graduation requirements. It will indicate what areas you have achieved, planned and which areas are still required. To ensure the accuracy of this information, see your Guidance Counsellor.
