Dual Credit

Dual credits allow students to participate in apprenticeship training and college courses.  These credits can count towards their high school diploma as well as a postsecondary certificate, diploma, degree or apprenticeship certification.

For example, students can take a course about entrepreneurship taught by a college professor and a high school teacher on a college campus. By passing the course, a student would earn both a high school credit and a college credit.

Each semester Fanshawe College offers college courses to Grade 12 students (students must meet criteria) who are post-secondary bound. Students take a college course taught by a college teacher in a college environment one day a week (Thursday’s). Students will be granted a secondary school credit for each college course they successfully complete.  Hence the name Dual Credit.???

In order to be considered for Dual Credit, students MUST fill out all the THREE documents (Student Expectations, Application Form and Consent Form) and submit them to their Guidance Counsellors - Mrs. Boin or Mrs. Michalski.
