The Board of Trustees have approved a recommendation that, effective for the 2022-23 school year, Grade 8 students throughout the LDCSB will attend their designated secondary home school based on their principal place of residence. The choice to attend an alternate secondary school will no longer be available to those Grade 8 students enrolled at a shared elementary school.
Only current Grade 8 students who fall under the Alternate Secondary School of Choice will be grandfathered. Parents and guardians of children currently in Grade 8 with younger children in their household should keep this in mind when considering secondary school choices for their Grade 8 student. Consideration for accommodation may be given to siblings who overlap while they both attend secondary school through the use of an annual boundary exemption request process. Any approved requests for a boundary exemption are without bus transportation.
