Policies + Bylaws

A: Foundations and Basic Commitments: Related to the board’s legal role in providing public education and the underlying principles on which the board operates. The policies in this section provide a setting for all of the school board’s other policies.
B: School Board Governance and Operations: The school board - how it is elected, organized; how it conducts its meetings and operates. This section includes by-laws and policies establishing the board’s internal operating procedures.
C: General School Administration: School board management, the administrative structure, and school building and department administration. It also is the location for personnel policies that pertain to one individual - the Director.
D: Fiscal Management: Board fiscal affairs and the management of district funds. Statements relating to the financing of school construction, however, are filed in the F (Facilities Development) section.
E: Support Services: Non-instructional services and programs, including most that fall in the area of business management such as safety, buildings and their management (not construction), transportation and food services.
F: Facilities Development: School construction, remodelling and modernizing, temporary facilities, and facilities retirement plans.
G: Personnel: Personnel policies. This section has three main subdivisions: subsection G1.0 presents policy topics that pertain to all employees; subsections G2.0, G3.0, G4.0 and G5.0 are for policies that pertain to professional personnel, including administrators, who must hold educational certification by the province to serve in their positions; subsection G6.0 is for policies pertaining to all other personnel.
I: Instruction: Instructional program: basic programs, special programs, activities programs, instructional resources, academic achievement.
J: Students: Admissions, attendance, rights and responsibilities, conduct, discipline, health and welfare services. However, all policies pertaining to the curriculum, instruction of students, and extracurricular programs are filed in the I (Instruction) section.
K: School-Community Relations: Relations with the general public and with other community and public agencies except other educational agencies and groups.
L: Innovative and Collaborative Technology - Policies related to technology.
