Additional COVID-19 Case Confirmed at St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Elementary School

December 1, 2020

A second positive case of COVID-19 has been identified by the Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) affecting the same class as the recent case at St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Elementary School in London.

The MLHU has determined that the two student cases meet the criteria of a class outbreak. An outbreak in a school is defined as two or more laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in students and/or staff with an epidemiologic link, within a 14-day period, and where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection at school. For more information, visit the MLHU website (healthunit.com/novel-coronavirus) or call 519-663-5317.

Students and staff of the affected class were already self-isolating at home as a result of the first case. The school will remain open and school buses will continue to operate.

Parents/guardians and staff have been notified of the additional case. The LDCSB posts information about all confirmed active cases on our website at ldcsb.ca/covid/ (click the Status of LDCSB Schools link).
