Community Partnerships
Facility Partnerships
Under Policy K 4.4 – Facility Partnerships, the Board is required to identify potential space for community partnerships within open school facilities and in new construction or significant renovation/addition projects as approved by the Board. The Board’s Policy is in conformity with current Ministry policy and guidelines.
Open Facilities
With respect to open facilities for partnership, Policy K 4.4 specifies the following criteria that are to be applied as minimum to all existing facilities when evaluating suitable spaces/facilities:
- Open school facilities that have not been declared surplus by the Board, and,
- Facilities that have been operating at less than 60 percent capacity for two years or more, and/or have 200 or more unused pupil places.
There are very few open facilities operating at less than 60 percent capacity and/or have 200 or more unused pupil places. With the unprecedented enrolment growth experienced recently across the system, committing to partnerships within open facilities is not feasible at this time.
New Capital Projects
Under Policy K 4.4 – Facility Partnerships, the Board is required to identify new capital construction projects or significant renovation/addition projects to offer for partnership. This would include both funded and refunded projects.
At its regular meeting on January 27, 2025 the Board approved the following list of new projects to be offered for community partnerships:
- Middlesex Centre Elementary School, Kilworth/Komoka (funded)
- Northeast London Secondary School, London (funded)
- North London Secondary School (funded)
- Southwest London Elementary School (funded)
- Southeast London Elementary School (unfunded)
- Replacement facility for St. Patrick, Lucan (unfunded)
- St. Thomas Elementary School (unfunded)
- St. Thomas Secondary School (funded)
